2007 Crunchies winners are announced

The winners of the most awaited technology awards for web 2.0 companies “The Crunchies” are just announced. Most of the awards are won by favourites with very few surprises.

1. Best overall winner: Facebook.

Is there any competition to this award? Even though Facebook hype is gradually waning, it is still a runaway winner.

2. Best video start up: Hulu. Though I have some reservations on Hulu business strength, it is a creative idea. Can it live up to its promise? Joost is gradually losing its charm.

3. Best mobile startup: Twitter.

Along with Facebook, Twitter is the most discussed site in 2007. Microblogging will definitely stay here. Admob is also an interesting startup.

4. Best user generated content: Digg. Even though I don’t like its recent changes like video etc, Digg is still my favourite.

5. Best Technology innovation: Earthmine.

6. Best international startup: Netvibes.

7. Best consumer startup: Meebo.

8. Best enterprise startup: Zoho.

9. Best business model: Zazzle.

10. Best bootstrapped startup: Techmeme. Techmeme is my most favourite site for latest hot stories in the blogosphere.

11. Best gadget: iPhone. I have never used Apple products before iPod and iPhone. Congrats to the Apple team for creating such wonderful breathtaking products. Long live Apple.

12. Best use of viral marketing: Stumbleupon. Can Google able to create a real competitor to Stumbleupon?

13. Best design: Smug Mug.

14. Best clean tech startup: Tesla Motors.

15. Most likely to succeed: WordPress.

16. Best Startup Founder: Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook )

The 2007 Crunchies awards are co-hosted by popular blogs like Techcrunch, Gigaom, Read/Wrie web and Venture beat. We have to see how many of these startups will live upto its expectations.
